Oh no! The classic boxy boy is going way! Hopefully it's not going away to Legends as the title of this article might suggests.
No! It looks like it might only be a "counts as!"
"Those who own these classic models needn’t worry – they can still find a place on the battlefields of the new edition of Warhammer 40,000, representing kits that are still supported (like the new Sternguard Unit)."
Well like I said, that Codex is a beast! Maybe they're trying to slim it down a bit. Hopefully collectors will also be able to pick up the classic dread on made to order runs.
That's . . . that's honestly a bummer.
LAST CHANCE TO BUY
Wow! Look at that Forgeworld list! A lot of these dreads have gotten or will get plastic dreads for heresy. But man! Those are some characters too! As a fan of Dawn of War, Gabriel is the biggest blow for me.
Most of Chaos is alternate sculpts for Daemons, so this mostly makes sense.
Ah shit! We're losing Malanthropes and Dimachaerons! Some of these other Xenos vehicles are really nice and flavorful too, though I don't think anyone ever used Pylons or Supa Kannons.
I already mostly new about the stuff that's already left. But man! This is quite the pruning! And it's not like I've got money to spare for the ones I'd been hoping to buy with 10th Edition around the corner!
FINAL THOUGHTS
Legends is working exactly the same as it always has, but a lot of stuff is getting shifted there. The good news is that GW is accelerating the end to Finecast Resin, at least for stuff they can move to plastic on. This means some of our previous Forge World units might move into the main range. Just have to wait and see.
