GOG Warhammer Quiz!

GOG Skulls Faction Quiz

As part of Skulls, GOG apparently thought it would be fun to make a faction quiz.  Now, while I will happily say that there isn't a faction in 40K I don't like, it should be quite obvious I have favorites.  Let's see if this quiz can get mine.

Question 1: Whom do you serve?

Wow.  Not exactly being subtle here!  This just starts off with "Do you play Chaos, Necrons, Tau, Imperium, Eldar, Tyranids, or Orks?"  I guess we're not gonna do any nuance with this quiz are we!  Well, if I was blind I might select the Star Gods.  But even then, the fact they describe the Hive Mind as omnipotent has me leaning towards that.  But also, on a blind pick I might be attracted to the Greater Good.  Of the remaining picks, describing Szarekh as a protector seems at least a little appealing, but the rest don't sound particularly ideal to "serve".

Still, Hive Mind wins on this one.

Question 2: What is your favorite weapon?

This is a little better.  Of these options I think the heavy bolter is the least descriptive, but everything else at least tells you a little about the weapon.  Here, I know what I would pick if I were doing this blind.  I've always been a fan of the "reach out and touch someone" concept of sniper rifles.  Star Cannons and gauss blasters sound fun too, but it's still definitely the sniper.

Question 3: Your unit is under attack and taking heavy casualties.  What do you do?

This might surprise you as I'm a Nid player, but I don't want my units taking unnecessary casualties if it's not serving a purpose.  Now I don't know why my unit is where it is, but if I can do something I would.  Normally, I would think this would call for a "Tactical retreat!"  But I've got the option to summon support here.  Suddenly outflanking an opponent seems like a better option to me!

Question 4: In a fight your greatest asset is . . .

This is another one that's pretty easy for me.  I prefer a more balanced playstyle, with maybe a slight leaning towards speed.  If I can have psychic attacks I'd make sure I'd have access to that too, but I don't want to specialize in it.

Question 5: What does your homeworld look like?

This is triggering the 4X loving parts of me.  I'd likely want the most resource rich homeworld I can get.  But one that's interesting or creates a good narrative is nice too.  This is focusing more on the aethetic of the homeworld though.  I think of these my pick is "It is a place of sophisticated technology and architecture."

Question 6: Where were you when Cadia fell?

Okay, who wrote this question?  Yes, Cadia falling is a massive event in the current 40K timeline, but what if you don't know anything about the setting?  Of these, if I didn't know anything, I'd probably pick "Watching from afar, yet ready to fight the forces of Chaos."

You belong to the T'au Empire!

Honestly, I'm not surprised at all by this.  As I was making my choices, I was thinking this was sounding like Tau.  The Greater Good sounded like a tempting choice in the first question, and playing with ranged weaponry with a fast moving force is appealing.  Plus I really liked anime and mechs when I got into 40K.  I don't know if I would have picked Tau if they existed in 2nd Edition, but I doubt they would have beaten Tyranids.  I just like cool alien monsters way too much.  Still, I'd say this is a solid pick.

Solid quiz though?  That I'm definitely giving a thumbs down on.  The first and last questions were just too "in universe" for a potentially new player.

Hmm . . . maybe I'll take a stab at making my own quiz . . .

Warhammer Day 2023

EDIT:  This is almost a full week late!  This week has sucked for many reasons, but I still can't believe it took me that long to get on...
